Memorial service held for Patricia Bradley, 77

Friends and family gathered Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Greater Free Gift Baptist Church to bid farewell to a beloved figure, Patricia Johnson-Bradley, who passed away on February 24 at the age of 77.
Born on November 13, 1946, to the late Morris and Lucy Johnson, Patricia, affectionately known as “Mother Bradley,” left an indelible mark on the hearts of those she encountered throughout her rich and purposeful life.

Mother Bradley’s journey of faith began at an early age when she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Grayson, Louisiana. Her commitment to her faith was evident in her active participation in her church community, especially after joining Greater Free Gift Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop Rodney McFarland following Hurricane Laura’s devastation in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

An alumnus of Grambling State University, Patricia embarked on a career that saw her serve as an Administrative Assistant at Northeast Louisiana University and later as a manager at Johnson Hall Apartments in Lake Charles. Her marriage to Albert Bradley blessed her with four children, whom she loved and cherished deeply. Despite the loss of her daughter, Andrea G. Bradley, Patricia’s resilience and strength shone through, leaving a legacy of love and dedication to her surviving children, Albert Tyron, Everett Shannon, and Elise L. Bradley.

Mother Bradley’s passion for service extended beyond her family to the wider community. Her talents in Bible teaching and grant writing were invaluable contributions to her church, and her exceptional oratory skills made her a sought-after guest speaker at various religious gatherings. Her life was a testament to selfless service, marked by generosity and an unwavering commitment to enriching the lives of others, particularly children.

Even as her health waned, Patricia remained a source of happiness and joy for her caregivers—Patrick Bradley, Brooklyn Bradley, Kortni Bradley, and Simone Kilgore—and all her family members, who supported and encouraged her through her illness.

Patricia leaves behind a legacy of faith, hope, and generosity, survived by her sons Albert Tyron (Tiffany) and Everett Shannon (Tenesha), her daughter Elise L., her devoted grandson Patrick R., two sisters, Barbara Canada and Juanita Johnson, one brother, Rev. Billy Ray Johnson (Jackie), several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and a multitude of friends and relatives. The memory of Patricia Johnson-Bradley, a beacon of light and love, will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege to know her.
