Former Carroll Jr. High principal, Angela Manning has a new job. She’s now the accountability specialist at Carroll High School.
Manning was one of four principals who were all transferred to the Sherrouse alternative school after they fell out of favor with superintendent Brent Vidrine for one reason or another.
The four included: Former Carroll principals, Patrick Taylor, and Lynetta Coates, Manning of Carroll Jr. High and Vickie Williams of Roy Shelling Elementary.
Public eyebrows were raised after a Free Press front-page editorial detailed the school district’s waste of talent when Vidrine placed four experienced principals in an alternative school with only about 45 students.
Sherrouse is generally seen as the “Principal’s graveyard” where Vidrine sends principals that have fallen out of favor for one reason or another.
However, this year, after several years in the “tombs,” Manning has been reassigned to Carroll High School to reportedly oversee the school’s curriculum.
After winning a court settlement over her demotion as Roy Shelling’s principal, Williams won’t have to spend one day in the principal’s graveyard. She will reportedly get to stay at home for a year drawing full pay and benefits.
Since Williams’ reputation was damaged by the demotion and accusations of wrongdoing involving the school’s finances, the board is expected also agree to a generous “defamation” settlement as well.
Manning will take the place of the school’s assistant principal who is reportedly being transferred to Jefferson Upper Elementary.
Only two principals remain at Sherrouse. One has risen, one never reported, and two: Taylor and Coates remain.
