Monroe-Louisiana Delta Community College announced today that after careful consideration, the delayed commencement ceremony plans have been canceled due to the rise in COVID-19 cases.
“This was a very difficult decision to make,” shares Chris Broadwater-Interim Chancellor, but we must consider the health and safety of our students, faculty, staff, and community members.
LDCC conducted “drive-through” celebrations at each of their eight campuses allowing for face mask photo ops with Broadwater and other LDCC employees.
Says Broadwater, “I cannot express enough how proud I am of every student’s determination and commitment to finish out the semester, despite the challenges brought by COVID-19.” Students have already received diplomas. However, the registrar’s office will notify all graduates when diploma covers and honor cords (if earned) are ready to be picked up. They will be sent to the graduate’s home campus.
Louisiana Delta is registering new, continuing, transfer, and dual-enrolled students now for the fall semester. The first day of fall classes is Monday, August 17, 2020. See the website at www.ladelta.edu for the list of programs and classes.
