Scripture: After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come. Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth laborers into his harvest. (Luke 10:1-2).
My Dear Friends,
Do we live in a world where the harvest is in an abundance with few laborers?
Listen, there were times when jobs were few and people were plentiful. Interestingly, individuals remained in job workforce lines while unemployment rates were high, and consistently moving up. However, today, employers and businesses are advertising to hire anyone who is willing to work.
During a conversation with a local business owner, he expressed his concern that he could not find or obtain anyone to work regardless of the amount of money offered. He noted that he remembered the time individuals sought him out for employment, but now, he seeks out individuals to work for him-but to no avail. He furthered expressed that he had at least one million dollars of work to be done, but he could not find anyone to work for him. Therefore, he resulted in employing his seventeen-year-old grandson and an elderly friend who is familiar with the type of work he needed done.
In particular, employers are finding it difficult to find individuals who want to work; in like manner, it is extremely difficult to get laborers to work in God’s vineyard. As we look at the world, and how fast the days are coming and going, it is incumbent upon us to be about our Father’s business which is sharing the love of Jesus Christ.
The aforementioned text is a part of the account when Jesus sends the seventy out to reap the harvest of souls. He says to them, “The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth laborers into his harvest.” (Luke 10:2). Most importantly, prayer should be offered up to God to send other disciples to join you in reaching out to the unsaved.
To answer the question, “Do we live in a world where the harvest is in an abundance with few laborers?” Well, with missionaries and social media, the message of Jesus Christ is going forth. However, there is still work to be done.
“Unemployment does not exist when reaching out to the unsaved.”
