Jackson, Moore among unopposed as qualifying ends

Katrina Jackson will be the next Senator for District 34, as qualifying ended Thursday and she drew no opponents

Others who won election without opponents were: Ouachita Sheriff Jay Russell, Pat Moore, State Representative for District 17; Jack G. McFarland, State Representative District 13; Michael Echols, State Representative District 14, Francis Thompson, State Representative District 19; Stephane S. Smith, Ouachita Parish Tax Assessor; Terri O’Neal, Ouachita Parish Coroner.

Others unanimously elected include: “Scotty Robinson” Police Jury District A; and Morgan Lowe Buxton, City of West Monroe Alderman.

Positions that will be decided in the October elections include: Four candidates for the District 15 State Representative’s seat: Foy Gadberry, Drake H. Graves, Ryan Reid and Justin Tidwell.

There will be four candidates for the District 16 State Representative Seat: Daryll Berry, Charles Henry Bradford, Alicia “Cocoa” Calvin, and Frederick Jones.
There will be three candidates for Ouachita Parish Clerk of Court: Dana Benson, LaKeisha J. Johnson, and Michael A. “Mike” Walsworth

There will be two candidates for Police Jury District B: Jack Clampit, and Jimmy Tyson.

There will be two candidates for Police Jury District C: Larry Braton and Lucia “Lucy” Holtzclaw.

There will be two candidates for Police Jury District D: Anna Reed and Rev. Michael Thompson, Sr.

There will be two candidates for Police Jury District E: “Cindy” Bradley and Shane Smiley.

There will be six candidates for Police Jury District F: Donnie Bright, Roland W. Edwards, Lonnie Hudson, Verbon R. Muhammad, Sr., Sonja Smith-Schaffer and Clifford “Cliff” Thomas
