It’s now against the law to use technology to hide your license plate number from those cameras!
Act 46 of the 2017 Louisiana Legislature makes it a crime to apply a covering or any substance to the license plate or use an electronic device or electrochromatic film that obscures from any angle the numbers, characters, year registration sticker, or name of the jurisdiction issuing the plate.
This addition amplifies the present law which requires that a motor vehicle permanent license plate is securely fastened to the assigned motor vehicle in a manner to prevent the plate from swinging, and at a height not less than 12 inches from the ground from the bottom of such plate in a place and position to be clearly visible, and be maintained free from foreign materials and in a condition to be clearly legible.
