My Christian Friend,
Who or what comes between you and God? Is there something that grabs your attention which causes you to focus on it rather than Him? Interestingly, these questions are essential to ask in order to determine if we have surrendered to allowing things to clutter our minds and hearts where God must reside.
One of my favorite pasts times is watching action movies. As I watch these movies, I get so engrossed in the storyline and how the actors and actresses play their role as if it were a real-life story. In some instances, it may be someone’s true story; however, to see the story unfolds may create a desire to see part 2 of the movie or additional scenes that would enhance a better ending.
In some cases, when watching these movies, it becomes difficult to separate and know the difference from the fictional character and the person who is playing the part in the movie. In fact, your mind is now set on what you have seen and heard which may cause a battle of what is vital and what is not.
It is important to realize that not only will movies clutter our hearts and minds, but there are other things that can take up resident there, also: Such as, excessive social media, worry, guilt, shame, bitterness, resentment, hatred, anger, jealousy, etc. Well, my friends, it is time for us to declutter our hearts and minds!
One may ask. “How do we begin to declutter our hearts and minds? We, as Christian believers, must build up our Spiritual mind and heart by feeding them with the Word of God. It is important that we spend time with God and not get caught up in our own needs and wants. So, we must get rid of the clutter so that we are able to focus and concentrate on God.
With this in mind, we musts be cognizant of “good works” that may pull us away from spending quality time with God. It is great to be able to help with the ministries of our local and universal churches; however, these activities must not take the place of valuable time with God.
We must declutter our hearts, our minds and our time. In doing so, we will be able to truly focus on Him and His direction for our lives. God knows where we need to start to declutter. H
David the king asked God to, “Search me. O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead the path of everlasting life” (Psalm 139: 23-24 NLT). In like manner, He will help us, also.
