It doesn’t take a master and harsh words to make you a slave:
With the thoughts that march across your mind,
A noose can be made.
It takes more than a paper declaration for you to be free,
Your independence depends on your mentality.
You can hold yourself hostage with a plantation style of thinking.
If you deprive yourself of your education,
Your future begins sinking!
And if your esteem is poor with no plans in mind,
Then to yourself you are a “massa” and a slave,
At the same time.
So every day can be the 4th of July
And you can be free,
As long as, no matter your gender or race,
You have an independent mentality!
