High school students to take fewer state tests

BATON ROUGE, La. – The Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) has voted to approve a policy change that will significantly reduce the number of high school state assessments, an action state officials say is a strategic move to ease the testing burden on students and educators.

This decision is part of a long-term initiative led by Louisiana State Superintendent of Education Dr. Cade Brumley to “responsibly streamline” the time spent on standardized tests while preserving the quality of the state’s accountability system.
