Everyone knows Saint Patrick’s day is on March 17th, but did you know it’s about the death of the Saint of Ireland? At the age of sixteen (16), Patrick was kidnapped and taken to Ireland as a slave. He had escaped later on in life but he later returned during 432 CE to convert all of Ireland to Christianity.
Yeah took a few years of slavery for him to come back to Ireland just to flex that everyone there needed Jesus.
However, by his death on March 17th (Took me a moment to realize they had made the celebration, on the day he died. Don’t worry I was confused too) he had established monasteries, churches, and schools throughout Ireland.
He was a Roman citizen during early Britain (A long time ago Britain was Rome). Actually, this saint’s name was Maewyn Succat when he was born but as he got older, he changed it to Patricius before returning to Ireland. Patricius translates to “Father Figure” in Latin. This was the name he chose and stayed with even after becoming a priest.
People later celebrated his death (they weren’t glad he was dead, they just decided his death should be something to be remembered) and everything he had done by throwing parades and wearing things that he’s been in possession of such as crosses, ribbons, and Shamrocks that Patrick used to explain the Holy Trinity to Non-Believers.
Another thing about this Saint is that his color wasn’t always green. It was originally blue because it was the only color of robe he would wear. They changed it to green after a beer they created in his honor.
So you know what this means? Yeah. You pinch everyone that’s ever pinched you for not wearing green because the color is supposed to be blue. I’ll help pinch. I’ve got nails.
