Scripture: Then said I unto them, Ye see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lieth waste, and the gates thereof are burned with fire: come, and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we be no more a reproach. Then I told them of the hand of my God, which was good upon me; as also the king’s words that he had spoken unto me. And they said, Let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands for this good work (Nehemiah 2:17-?18 KJV).????
My brothers and sisters in Christ,
Even though trouble and hardships are certain to come when individuals are trying to complete an assigned task, one must remain determined to stay the course and keep the faith. Each believer in Jesus Christ is given specific tasks, which require God’s help.
Persons who fail to recognize that their help comes from God is destined for failure. For the most part, opposition will present itself, but God will accomplish through us the intended task. Our responsibility is to continue to move forward and witness the hand of God.
Recently, my brother purchased a building in which he plans to refurbish for usage to begin his new business venture. Of course, the building was deteriorated from neglect and misuse. Therefore, he was aware that his plans to reconstruct the establishment would be difficult, but it was definitely doable.
He has labored for several months to bring the building up to standard while faced with many challenges. On one particular day, I asked him about the progress of the building and he stated, “If it is not one thing, it is another”. Though disappointed, he was yet encouraged that he would complete the task with God’s help. Way to go Brother Terry!
There are many tasks that we are called upon to complete such as taking care of a loved one, ministering to the incarcerated, pastoring a church, planting a church or other tasks that are used to enhance kingdom building. Ultimately, all christian believers have the task of sharing the love of Jesus Christ with those who have no hope.
The bible reveals that many persons are utilized to complete assigned tasks such as Nehemiah, who inspired others under his leadership to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem as noted in the above-mentioned scriptures. Under Nehemiah’s leadership, the wall was built in fifty-two (52) days. Once you follow the direction of God, you will complete the task.
