Giving the Joy of Reading During the Holidays

The Monroe-Grambling (LA) Chapter of The Links Incorporated gifted more than 200 books to the Paul E. Slaton Head Start Center in Ruston, LA. This endeavor will benefit so many children in the community. These efforts will promote literacy at a very young age. Head Start Director, Pamela Harris say “I’m truly grateful for this kind gesture, and the children of the center will be very excited to receive their books”.

The Links, Incorporated is an international, not-for-profit corporation, established in 1946. The membership consists of more than 16,000 professional women of African descent in 288 chapters located in 41 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, and the United Kingdom. It is one of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer service organizations of extraordinary women who are committed to enriching, sustaining and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry. Its core values are friendship, integrity, honesty, service, commitment, family relationships, courage, respect for self and others, legacy, confidentiality, responsibility, and accountability.
