“Get down Tiger” were the first and last words he had for generations of Neville Students as he mentored them as Dean of Students for 59 years.
Roosevelt Rankins, a legendary figure in the fields of education, business, and civic leadership has passed. He was was 83 years old.
He died on November 18, 2023, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire future generations.
His funeral service is slated for Friday, December 1, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the Greater Free Gift Baptist Church. A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at the Neville High School Stadium.

“Coach” Rankins served as the Dean of Students at Neville High School for an astonishing 59 years, dedicating his life to the betterment of youth and the community.
He was not only an educator but also a successful businessman, owning and operating Rankin’s Auto Parts on Renwick Street.
