Funeral services for Mother Hester Douzart, mother of NAACP President Ambrose Douzart, will be held on Saturday, February 27th at the Greater Free Gift Baptist Church.
Mother Douzart was 99 years old.
Visitation will be held at the St. Johnson Baptist Church on Sycamore Street from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, February 26th.
Her official obituary includes the following:
“Mother Hester was born to Ambrose & Matilda Warren. She was united in Holy matrimony to Eddie James Douzart, Sr. on January 20, 1940.
After 69 years of marriage, her beloved husband Eddie transitioned on December 31, 2009.
Together, they reared nine children.
Mother Hester became a member of Poplar AME Church in Rayville, Louisiana at the early age of 13. She had served in many ministries.
She was the President of the Stewardess, President of the Pastor Aide, Class Leader and Choir member of Allen Chapel, and the District President of the Stewardess, in Shreveport-Monroe District.
Mother has been a faithful member of Allen Chapel AME Church family for over 50 years.
Services have been entrusted to the McFarland Funeral Home.
