Scripture: Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty. Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain: Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind: Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire: Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever. Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the mountains. At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away. They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys unto the place which thou hast founded for them. Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth. (Psalm 104: 1-9 KJV).
Dear Lord, Our Heavenly Father,
Words are inadequate to express this child of yours griefs at viewing the miseries suffered by soooo many of your people worldwide due to hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, destructive insect invasions. However, some of us how gathered to pray via phones and other ways here in Monroe, Louisiana. We have so far been granted weather behavior miracles except during Easter Sunday a few years ago. We have adopted the aforementioned passage of scripture as our pleas to you concerning the frightening weather report, which we have adopted as an integral part of our prayers to you. Our merciful God, please, please, please, please grant our prayers for the threatening forecasted storms heading our way to be dissipated- that is, broken up, in YOUR SON, JESUS’ name, and let all of us in their path share a small piece of their forces as it has been constructed and forecast.
It is very, very un-Christian to ask You to send them in other directions to hurt others. But please. LORD, GOD give all of us small pieces, so it won’t be sooo destructive towards any of us.
We don’t have to remind YOU that all of us have been and are sinful not only here in Monroe LA, but all over YOUR created world. But YOUR SON JESUS said, “Whatever we ask YOU in His name, YOU will grant it. (John 14:13). In fact, all of our prayers should be prayed in YOUR SON, JESUS’ name.
A few days ago, I was lying in bed praying to YOU, begging YOU to grant our prayers against a forecasted dire weather and suddenly a great “clap” of thunder sounded and frightened me almost out of my wits. But I recovered enough to call my next door neighbor, one of my adopted children in Christ, Rev. Pamela Nash-Blake, and said, “Let’s pray!!” She had heard it, also. In fact, everybody in this area should have heard it.
We began to pray together which is part o our daily routine and reminded YOU of YOUR promises in our aforementioned passages of Scriptures and YOUR promise to honor our prayers in YOUR Son JESUS’ name, and…the rest is history.
Thank YOU, FATHER,
In JESUS’ name, Amen, Amen, Amen
Love, Jacquelyn Simmons
