Facebook to open $5 billion data center in Holly Ridge

A few months ago, Governor Jeff Landry came to Monroe and announced that later this year, he would announce a major economic development coming to the area. He managed to keep it tight-lipped until this week, when the public service commissioner let the cat out of the bag and stole the Governor’s thunder.

  Facebook’s parent company, Meta, is planning to construct a $5 billion artificial intelligence data center in Holly Ridge, about 30 miles east of Monroe in Richland parish. The project was confirmed Tuesday by Public Service Commissioner Foster Campbell who let the cat out of the bag.

The massive facility will be built on the state-owned Franklin Farms Megasite, a 1,440-acre property in Richland Parish.
