During tornado scare, mom booked for child desertion

While South Monroe was hunkered down for protection from a tornado that tore through a portion of the Booker T. Neighborhood, one mother was arrested for leaving her four children unattended.

Police arrested Lushonnoh Carter, 26, of 4308 Booker Street, on charges of child desertion after police officers in the area were flagged down in reference to a child abandonment complaint.

Upon investigation, according to the police report, Police located a six-year and a two-year-old standing outside of the Booker Street residence. Further investigation revealed that two 11-month-old infants were inside the house unattended.

The police report said at 5:30 p.m. Carter arrived at the residence. She told police that she was unsure what time she left her residence, but admitted the children were left unattended.

She was booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center on four counts of child desertion with a $3,000 bond for each count.
