Graveside services were held Friday at the Richwood Memorial Gardens for Dr. Lavargne Gunn-Ford.
Dr. Gunn-Ford was a prominent educator and community organizer who died Saturday morning of natural causes. She was 73 years old.
The short Graveside service was conducted by the Alpha Tau Chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
Because of the world-wide Coronavirus crisis, a state wide “Shelter in place” order limited the tribute for Gunn-Ford. The Delta Sorority, space 6 feet apart, performed their traditional ceremony, to comply with health and safety advisories.
A formal salute to Dr. Gunn-Ford is plan after the virus crisis ends.
