On June 17, 2017, according to a Louisiana State Police officer, the officer observed a gray Chevrolet Silverado four door pick-up truck pull onto LA 139 northbound at Lakeshore and accelerate quickly. The Chevrolet was traveling 56 mph in a 45 mph zone and constantly drifting out of its lane going onto the right fog line and onto the left white dashed line.
The Chevrolet turned onto Rolland Road very quickly. The officer activated the emergency lights and the vehicle stopped in a self storage parking lot. The officer called the driver to exit and he did so quickly and in an unsteady manner. The driver fumbled with his license, swayed as he stood, and had very red dilated eyes, slurred speech and a faint odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. He was identified as Toby Bordelon. Bordelon submitted to SFST and showed to be too impaired to operate a motor vehicle safely. The officer placed him under arrest and he submitted to the intoxylizer 9000 at OCC. Bordelon’s BAC was shown to be 0.94g%
Man attempts to hide drugs from officers
On June 16, 2017, according to a Sterlington Police officer, the officer initiated a traffic stop on a white Toyota Camry for defective or no license plate lamps on 165 north of Hwy 136. Upon making contact with the driver, the officer detected a strong odor to be associated with marijuana.The officer observed the back seat occupant to reach inside his pocket and reach towards the back of the front passenger seat. A search was conducted of the vehicle. Search revealed a small plastic bag containing a white powdery substance in the back pocket of the front seat passenger. Brown, whom was occupying that area of the vehicle, was placed into restraints with rights per Miranda in which he stated he understood. Brown was transported to Ouachita Correctional Center for booking on said charge. The white powder substance was field tested, resulting in a positive match for cocaine. The suspected cocaine weighed to be approximately 14 grams.
Illegal carrying of weapon and cds
On June 15, 2017, according to a West Monroe Police officer, the officer observed a white truck traveling west in the 2500 block of Cypress St. with bright white lights shining to the rear of the vehicle. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle in the 100 block of Splane Dr. and mad contact with the occupants. The driver identified himself and stated he had a suspended driver’s license. The front passenger was identified and the rear seat passenger was identified as Brittany Crowell. While speaking with them, Crowell appeared nervous and would not look at the officer when the officer spoke with them. A computer check confirmed a suspended driver’s license and that an active warrant with OPSO. The officer placed one of the occupants under arrest and a search of his person recovered two spent .22 magnum bullet casings in his pocket. Simpson is a convicted felon and is currently on felony probation.
The officer asked Crowell and the other occupant for consent to search the vehicle and they denied. A K-9 did an exterior sniff of the vehicle and gave a positive alert. A search of the vehicle recovered approximately 3 grams of methamphetamines, a one hitter pipe containing marijuana, a .22 magnum revolver and a box of .22 magnum bullets with 2 bullets missing from the box.
The bullets in the box matched the bullet casings found in Simpson’s pocket. All of these items were located concealed under the center console cup holder. The officer advised all three of their Miranda rights, which they stated they understood. All three denied knowledge of the drugs. Crowell stated the revolver belonged to her but she did not know how the gun got in the truck. They were all arrested and later taken to OCC. Crowell was booked for the above listed charges.
Man caught with green leafy substance in sock
On June 18, 2017, according to a Monroe Police officer, the officer was en route to a welfare concern on Moore Ave. Before turning onto Moore Ave. the officer noticed a b/m messing with a door to a residence. The officer made contact with the suspect who was later identified as Todd Davis. Davis advised he lived at the residence. The officer advised dispatch to check Davis for warrants. Dispatch advised Davis had a warrant through Monroe City Courts.
The officer then transported Davis to be booked in on the warrant at MPD booking. While searching Davis the officer found a green leafy substance in Davis’ right sock. The officer then transported Davis to OCC where he was booked in on the aforementioned charges.
Man breaks in to see his child
According to a Ouachita Parish Sheriff deputy, the arrestee was found to force entry into the victim’s residence breaking the door frame. The victim stated after the arrestee gained entry, he got into a physical altercation with her causing scratches on her arms. Deputies observed the damaged door, and scratches to the victim’s arms. Deputies advised the arrestee of his Miranda Rights, which he stated he understood and chose to waive. The arrestee admitted to forcing entry into the residence because he wanted to see his child. The arrestee was taken to OCC.
Woman is caught with alcohol in-car
On June 17, according to a Louisiana State Police officer, the officer observed a black Hyundai Sonata on US 80 eastbound in the inside lane. The Hyundai drifted from the inside to outside lane without a signal, constantly drifted on the right fog line and on the center white dashed line and the Hyundai was traveling 50 mph in a 40 mph zone. The officer stopped the vehicle and it parked in a handicapped parking spot at What-a-Burger on Louisville Avenue. The officer called the driver out and she exited and had red droopy dilated eyes. She had a faint odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath, swayed as she stood and fumbled with her license. She was identified as Miranda Diane Gelpi. Gelpi submitted to SFST and showed to be too impaired to operate a motor vehicle safely. She had an opened bottle of vodka on the floorboard that was ¼ full. She submitted to the intoxylizer 9000 at OCC and her BAC was shown to be .092g%.
Two men and one gun
On June 18, according to a Sterlington Police officer, the officer initiated a traffic stop on a blue Grand Marquis for failure to dim headlights. Upon making contact with the driver, the officer detected a strong odor to be associated with marijuana.
Driver was then identified as Cedric P. Glass. The passenger identified as Otha Moore. Both subjects were asked to step out of the vehicle. Moore then handed the assisting officer a small plastic bag containing a large amount of suspected marijuana. Glass and Moore were placed under arrest with rights per Miranda in which they stated they understood. Glass told officers that he had a handgun in the back seat. The officers recovered the handgun. Moore and Glass would be transported to OCC.
Woman harasses man because she’s angry
According to a Ouachita Parish Sheriff deputy, a deputy was assigned to investigate a harassment complaint. The victim in this case advised he received multiple unwanted and harassing text messages from the arrestee. He reported these messages began on June 14, 2017 at approx 8:00am and continued throughout the day. Some of the statements in the messages include “I’m going to destroy you”, “I’m going to make sure you lose your job”, “I hope and pray you’re next one to get killed” “I will be jumping for joy”.The arrestee also made threatening statements to go to the victim’s employer with media outlets to defame him if he did not provide her a formal apology.
In addition to the text messages sent to the victim, the arrestee sent messages to his family members and an acquaintance via “Facebook” messenger claiming he was HIV positive and had another female pregnant. According to the victim, these are false accusations. In her post Miranda interview, the arrestee admitted to the above allegations. She admitted to sending the text message to the victim demanding an apology and that he resign from his job. She also admitted to sending the “Facebook” messages with untrue information about the victim. The arrestee claimed she did all these things because she was angry with the victim for being rude and short with her during conversations.
Man gets into a single car crash
According to a Louisiana State Police officer, on June 15, 2017, a driver was involved in a single vehicle crash on LA 34 milepost 81. The driver was transported to St. Francis Medical Center by AMR. Upon coming into contact with the driver, I detected an odor associated with an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath as he spoke. The driver stated he was not wearing his seatbelt and had been drinking beer.
The officer asked the driver to perform a SFST in which the driver performed poorly. The driver was placed under arrest. The driver driver’s license was suspended for prior DWIs. The driver also had an active warrant with the OPSO.
The driver was transported to OCC where he was read his rights related to tests for intoxication. The driver was then offered a breath test on the intoxylizer 9000. The driver submitted to the state’s test which resulted in a BAC of 0171g%.
