Cook plans to revive his senior oriented “Are You O.K.?” program if elected again

Former Ouachita Parish Sheriff Chuck Cook has unveiled plans to expand his highly successful “Are You OK?” Program, a community-oriented initiative aimed at ensuring the safety and well-being of vulnerable individuals, if he is re-elected in the upcoming October 14th elections.

The “Are You OK? The program, which proved to be a triumph during Cook’s previous tenure, involved the sheriff’s office making automatic daily calls to check on senior citizens and medically restricted patients living alone. These automated calls, asking the simple question “Are you OK?”, provided an essential lifeline to those in need. If a call went unanswered, a sheriff’s deputy would be dispatched to investigate and assist seniors who may have encountered accidents or injuries.

Cook plans to expand the program to encompass individuals of all backgrounds who wish to participate voluntarily. The expanded program will offer flexibility, allowing residents to specify predetermined times for receiving these automated check-ins.
