“Because the church did not CONDONE my sin”

By Lisa Wilmore

“Because the church did not condone my sin, they did not look the other way.”

“Because the church did not condone my sin, they came to me in private and whispered their concerns.”“Because the church did not condone my sin, they spoke the truth in love.”

“Because the church did not condone my sin, they spoke the truth in humility.”

“Because the church did not condone my sin, the church spoke the truth in kindness

“Because the church did not condone my sin, they allowed the Holy Spirit to convict me.”

“Because the church did not condone my sin, I was encouraged to repent.”

“Because the church dd not condone my sin, they shared Philippians 4:13 with me- “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.”

“Because the church did not condone my sin, they confessed their struggles and shared how God delivered them.”

“Because the church did not condone my sin, they prayed for a change in me.”

“Because the church did not condone my sin, my sinful actions were not encouraged.”

“Because the church did not condone my sin, I got a glimpse of their hurt and disappointment.”

“Because the church did not condone my sin, I believe they cared what happened to me.”

“Because the church did not condone my sin, I understand that it was the sin they hated, not me.”

“Because the church did not condone my sin, I knew that God sent them to warn, yet restore me.”

“Because the church did not condone my sin, I witnessed God’s grace and forgiveness.”

“Because the church did not condone my sin, they shared the importance of honoring God with my life and actions.”

Dear hearts, we, as Christian believers, must speak the truth to individuals in love, humility and kindness. It is our responsibility. However, we must be careful not to condemn or judge but rather restore in meekness. The Bible points out, Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.  (Galatian 6:1-2 NIV).

When the church (Christian people) does not accept or go along with an individual’s sin, this does not mean that they are condemning the individual. It simply means that God has impressed upon them to speak the truth in love. Be thankful when the church does not condone sin. Afterall, it is our Christian duty to build each other up and “carry each other’s burden”. God Bless You!
