Man tries to cash bogus $10,000 check

   A Monroe man found that it is difficult to cash a large check, especially if you don’t have the money in the bank.
   Last week police arrested Ronnel DeMario Halton, 24, of 14708 Hamburg Road, on one count of forgery after Halton after he and another man indentified as Mondarria Latrouous Winston attempted to cash a fraudulent check in the amoun of $10,626,47 at a local Chase bank.
   Bank officials quickly discovered that the check was not real and noted that the two men had tried to cash checks for different amounts at other Chase banks in Monroe, Bastrop and Ruston.
   He was booked with a $10,000 bond.
